The Transfiguration of the Lord
Feast of Christ’s glory on the mountain — the same Lord who climbs toward the Cross revealed in light before Peter, James, and John.
What we celebrate
On August 6 the Church keeps the Transfiguration: Christ revealed in glory on Tabor before His Passion. The feast is not an escape from the Cross. It is the Father’s witness that the One who will suffer is the beloved Son — and that glory and sacrifice are one mystery.
How to keep the day
Read Matthew 17 (or Luke 9) slowly. Pray before the Blessed Sacrament if you can. Ask for the grace to hear “listen to Him” as a command against your preferred voices. St. James was on that mountain; his July feast and this August feast belong together.
