Saint's Keep

Authority tiers

Every library entry carries a required authority tier. The badge is never optional and never hidden. This is how we keep public-domain bulk text from posing as doctrine.

  1. Tier 1Canon

    Canon

    Magisterial teaching

Scripture, Catechism, ecumenical councils, encyclicals, and the doctrinal teaching of Doctors of the Church. Not every text by a Doctor — her compositions and visions are not automatically Canon.

  2. Tier 2Liturgy

    Liturgy

    Official liturgical standing

Texts from the Roman Missal, Graduale, Liturgy of the Hours, or Rituale — sequences, hymns, tracts, and ritual formulas the Church actually uses in public worship and sacramental blessing.

  3. Tier 3Commentary

    Commentary

Commentary and devotion — not magisterial

Theological commentary, spiritual writers, and approved or traditional devotionals that are not themselves in the liturgical books — including personal compositions of saints and Doctors.

  4. Tier 4Margins

    Margins

Outside the canon — presented as history and testimony, not as doctrine

Non-canonical texts, NDE accounts, unapproved apparitions. Presented as history and testimony only. Hidden from the index until you opt in.
