Authority tiers
Every library entry carries a required authority tier. The badge is never optional and never hidden. This is how we keep public-domain bulk text from posing as doctrine.
- Tier 1Magisterial teaching
Tier 1 — Canon
Magisterial teaching
Scripture, Catechism, ecumenical councils, encyclicals, and Doctors of the Church. Visual accent: gold.
- Tier 2Church-approved private revelation — belief is not required of the faithful
Tier 2 — Approved
Church-approved private revelation — belief is not required of the faithful
Church-approved private revelation (Fatima, Lourdes, Divine Mercy). Worthy of devotion; not required of the faithful.
- Tier 3Theological commentary — not magisterial
Tier 3 — Commentary
Theological commentary — not magisterial
Theologians, spiritual writers, and modern commentators. Useful for study; not the Magisterium.
- Tier 4Outside the canon — presented as history and testimony, not as doctrine
Tier 4 — Margins
Outside the canon — presented as history and testimony, not as doctrine
Non-canonical texts, NDE accounts, unapproved apparitions. Presented as history and testimony. Muted stone styling — never gold. Hidden from the index until you opt in.
