What we celebrate
Instituted by Pope Pius XI in 1925, the Solemnity of Christ the King answers a world that had begun to treat Christ as a private opinion. The feast insists otherwise: His kingdom is not of this world, but it claims this world. Every knee will bow.
How to keep the day
Attend Mass. Pray the Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart if your parish offers it. Examine whether Christ is actually Lord of your calendar, your spending, and your speech — or only of your Sunday hour.
