The tomb

Catholic tradition holds that the basilica stands over the burial of St. Peter. Pilgrims come not for marble alone but for the confession of the Rock — and for the continuity of the See.

Practical notes

Lines move; patience is part of the pilgrimage. Dress for a church, not a museum. Pair a Roman visit with the broader route of the Roman Basilicas when that guide is available.
