St. Monica

Who she was
Monica of Tagaste married a difficult pagan husband and raised a brilliant, wayward son. She followed Augustine across the Mediterranean with prayer that refused to quit. She lived to see his baptism in Milan under St. Ambrose, and died at Ostia around 387 on the way home to Africa.
Why you’d seek her intercession
Monica is the saint of long obedience in the same direction — especially for parents watching an adult child walk away from the Church. She does not offer techniques. She offers perseverance, tears that are not self-pity, and trust that God’s timeline is not yours.
Traditional devotion
Pray for the fallen-away by name. Keep August 27 and 28 together: Monica’s fidelity, then Augustine’s intellect baptized. Conversion is often a household story before it is a book.
