History
In 1858 the Blessed Virgin appeared to Bernadette Soubirous at the grotto of Massabielle. The local bishop approved the apparitions; Lourdes stands among the most visited Marian shrines in the world. The spring, the processions, and the baths are ordered to prayer and the care of the sick.
