O Euchari
St. Hildegard of Bingen · 12th century · tr. Saint's Keep
O Euchari is Hildegard's sequence for St. Eucharius of Trier — companionship with the Son of God on the joyful road, contrasted with sleeping disciples. Text and music are hers and public domain; English is our original crib for study. Hold it with Scivias and her other chants in one graph.

- 1
O Euchari, in leta via ambulasti ubi cum Filio Dei mansisti, illum tangendo et miracula eius que fecit in primitiva Ecclesia.
1O Eucharius, you walked on a joyful road where you remained with the Son of God, touching him and the miracles he worked in the primitive Church.
- 2
Tu eum perfecte amasti cum sodales tui erant pleni de somno et non poterant Deo vigilare et tibi dare.
2You loved him perfectly when your companions were full of sleep and could not keep watch for God or give themselves to you.
- 3
O Euchari, digne eras socius Pauli, in clarissima umbra illius qui de celo cecidit.
3O Eucharius, you were worthy to be Paul's companion in the brightest shadow of him who fell from heaven.
