Start smaller than you think

A layman's rule fails when it pretends to be a novitiate. Begin with three anchors: morning offering, a fixed examination at night, and Sunday Mass that is non-negotiable. Add the Liturgy of the Hours only when those three hold.

The St. Benedict medal is not a lucky charm. It is a sacramental that recalls the Cross and a prayer of renunciation of evil. Carry it as you carry a reminder of who you answer to when the day turns ugly.
